Sewing Gift Tags
Personalizing gifts is an excellent way to demonstrate your affection for someone.
These cards will enhance the appearance of your gifts and provide a delightful way to spend an afternoon crafting. The simple designs also serve as a great introduction to sewing.
HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED
heavy card stock
oddments of yarn
hole punch (optional) I used one similar to this one here
scissors
yarn darning needle
jute for hanging thread
pokey tool
mat for using with the pokey tool
HERE’S WHAT YOU DO
Download the Sewing Tag Templates by clicking the link above. Print them off to start creating. Couple of points for you to consider.
1. Print on thin paper as this will make it easier to pierce the paper with the pokey tool.
2. Sometimes printers choose not to print at 100% so check that it does, or scale to 100% before clicking print. If you want to make a different size design for cards you may already have, enlarge or reduce the size by changing the printer percentage settings. This will be trial and error, so have a play until you are happy with the size of the design..
Once downloaded and printed, it's time to get creative! On the template you will see three blank boxes. This is for you to create your own design. The secret is to make them simple as this looks really effective, but of course you can make them as complicated as you like. Add dots to form your design, keeping them inside the edges. Cut the box out and you have your very own template!
Cut round the chosen design, then follow the video below to create the tags.
Before you begin make sure you have the correct tools. To create the holes, a pointed tool is essential to get a clean hole. This step MUST performed by a responsible adult. As you are dealing with a point, make sure you protect the surface below and keep your fingers away. from the sharp point. I used a dense foam mat for this step.

The heart could be used for any occasion and stitched in any colour.
I designed this tag to be a snowflake, but turned it into a cobweb. That's the beauty of crafting - you get to be the designer!
So go on, download the templates, start the video and get creating.
